"Taxonomy of Unusual Events on the Mountain" Moody Gallery, Houston, Texas 2010
All imagery is from Mount Livermore near Marfa, TX. The installation, covering five walls within the gallery, questions the relationships between fragments and totalities and formalizes this inquiry in the tentative space of the installation. It is my intention to investigate the complexity of contemporary experiences, interpretations and visual uses of Nature. The format focuses on associative and inter-connective interpretations of many visual options. Since 2004 my artwork has been a continuously evolving black and white composition that translates natural phenomena into a series of formalized art events and installations. Initially set in motion by a series of tracking lessons, this project explores models of figure/ground relations and questions what constitutes wholeness of form, shape, perceptual field and viewpoint.
