“Watcher: Strategies of Art, Observation, and Adaptation” Yaddo, Saratoga Springs, NY 2010
"Watcher:Strategies of Art, Observation, and Adaptation" was assembled during my residency at YADDO. It began as an continuously changing series of visual events created through different combinations of and contexts for sense perception. As watchers, observers and inter-actors, I later invited writers, performance artists, DJ’s and playwrights to perform as I videoed and photographed them in my evolving installation. These performed events became an integral element of the moving and changing installation. Artists such as Aaron Hamburger read his essay, “The Eroticism of Football” from I Like it Like That: True Stories of Gay Male Desire, Dan Fishback performed from his new musical, The Material World, about Madonna, Britney Spears and socialist Jews in the 1920s, and the visual artist, Zachery Keeting, DJed from his collection of ska, rocksteady and reggae music.
