Autotelic, 2019 to present

24” x 42.5” each
Photograph on archival paper

Referencing the world outside and focusing on how humans make visible what is essentially imperceptible AUTOTELIC continues the process of combining art making and scientific investigation that has been the focus of my artwork for decades. AUTOTELIC represents the surface of imaginary exoplanets, planets similar to earth but outside our solar system. The size of each photograph represents the 16:9 aspect ratio of a computer screen or tv monitor. Crystals, such as fluorite, represent the surface of the exoplanets. Fluorite is used to make lenses for microscopes and telescopes. Metaphysically fluorite is known for cleansing, purifying and protecting.
